the story

‘Venetian Table’ is inspired by a moment Kate Mary encountered during an exhibition in Glasgow, where a small, beautifully carved table caught her eye. The artwork feels like a zoomed-in reflection of ‘Three Vases’, focusing on a single vase. The vase, simple and understated, is rendered in a solid block of blue, contrasting with the intricate details of the room. The window behind the table floods the scene with warm reds, oranges, and yellows, contrasting with the cool blues of the table and tiled floor.

Kate cleverly uses the same shade of blue for both the table and the window frame’s border, creating harmony. The vibrant light outside adds playful energy to the serene interior. Through her rich pastels and thoughtful composition, Kate transforms this everyday corner into something extraordinary, capturing the beauty of quiet reflection.
