about the artist
British artist Andrew Millar’s delicate artworks have a haunting and magical dream-like quality. Gently glistening in the light from Andrew’s hand application of metallic leaf sheets, his polaroid collages and large scale works unveil an imaginative world of iconic vintage glamour, female portraiture and representations of the natural world.
the story
'Disappear' invites us to explore the hidden, haunting beauty of Reinden Woods in Kent, where history lurks in the shadows and light dances opportunistically. The work captures the negative image of the forest, twisting our sense of reality, as though viewing the world through an altered lens that unveils an invisible layer of existence. Andrew uses metallics that shimmer and shift – a rich tapestry of vibrant colours that breathe life throughout the woods. This is a forest transformed, a portal into an unseen dimension, where the familiar becomes surreal, and the past whispers softly from the depths.
