For local Walthamstow artist Helen Chambers, each painting is a journey of discovery. As she layers paint upon the surface she is continually responding to the ever-changing palette, marks and textures before her. The natural world is her anchor and she employs an expressive, intuitive approach to mark making – taking the finished works outside the boundaries of realism. Her landscapes sit in that intriguing space between abstraction and representation – vibrant and immersive.

‘Creating Light’ delves into the captivating realm between abstraction and representation. Helen’s vibrant canvas highlights the greens and pinks of the landscape, enriched by dynamic drips and splatters of paint that enhance the immediacy of her work. Meanwhile, the broad, sweeping brushstrokes in the sky evoke a sense of moment and assurance.
