the artist
anil mistry is a uk based mixed media artist who focuses on creating fresh new interpretations of urban landscapes. using his own source imagery from his travels around the world, anil combines photography with mixed medias such as spray paints, stencils, acrylics and screen printing. these surreal and evocative collages feature stylistically unusual, misfit and often overlooked elements from cityscapes, environments and everyday objects. he playfully juxtaposes different elements to create rich new landscapes and settings - each with their own unique narrative.
the story
situated next to coppermill fields on marshland the latest incarnation of the coppermill in Walthamstow, london was rebuilt in 1806. before milling copper, the mill can be traced back to the 14th century and has been used to grind corn, produce gunpowder, roll paper, leather and manufacture of linseed oil. the copper mill has become an important and stunning landmark on the walthamstow marshes. this piece was created by building up layers of scratched and scraped acrylic paint, spray paints, screenprinting, silver leaf and collaged paper on a 5mm board.
the artwork
this artwork is a limited edition of 17 giclée print on hahnemuhle photorag paper, measuring 30 x 40 cm and comes signed and numbered. the print has been mounted with a 40 x 50 cm mount and is sold unframed.
