about the artist

originally from singapore, cassandra yap is an artist and art director based in london. her work often explores the juxtaposition between dark and beautiful subjects to create the surreal. fuelled by her love of pin ups, the female form and an unhealthy obsession with vintage erotica, her photomontage halftone style images are dark, bold and humorous with a kinky edge.

the story

cassandra’s work drips in glamour and elegance – and here we feast our eyes on a menagerie of beauty and vintage charm. adorned with 3D floral details and old world swallowtail butterflies from antique book plates, cassandra creates the feeling of being nestled deep in a magical meadow – surrounded by flora and fauna. butterflies landing on bare skin – this is a dreamlike tableau full of joyful nostalgia. it is within nature’s embrace that we can find happiness.

this is an original screen print, printed on a heritage 315gsm paper with a 3d paper collage elements. the artwork has been framed set back in a black frame with matching black spacers. the piece measures 31.5 x 23 cm
