lee herring "april bluebell' 4/30 framed
limited edition hand embellished print
the artist
lee’s contemporary abstract landscapes are colourful, textured and full of life. they’re inspired by his every day, normal life! things you and I wouldn’t notice... lee draws inspiration from. countryside strolls, posters, textiles, sunsets, transport, the list goes on.
the story
inspired by the chalet wood bluebells on the edge of waltham forest, lee has found and adorned an antique book plate - adding his signature textural use of paint and kaleidoscopic colour to this delicate, vintage illustration of a bluebell. in this way, lee works his usual magic - taking classic ideas and inspirations and imbuing them with this contemporary and extravagant touch. suddenly a previously loved book becomes a modern work of art - an artwork we want to get up close to, to touch and to treasure. it represents a fleeting moment in nature where wild flowers are in bloom and east london stops to notice - now available to appreciate and celebrate all year long on your wall.
