about the artist

matt's work represents mis-remembered memories of places he's visited. instead of the physical representation of the place, he tries to capture the emotions of being there. Though abstract in their nature, his memoryscapes have the power to trigger memories of our own journeys near and far.

story

inspired by the song "home" by edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros, this piece beautifully captures the sentiment of longing for home whilst being far away. 

matt’s wife would sing him this song while they were dating, and he would comfort himself with the knowledge that his love was looking out at the same sun. even if his was a sunset, and hers a sunrise.
