matt's work represents mis-remembered memories of places he's visited. Instead of the physical representation of the place, he tries to capture the emotions of being there. though abstract in their nature, his memory scapes have the power to trigger memories of our own journeys near and far.

“we come from the land of the ice and snow

from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow”

 this is inspired by the quiet of the icy wind, which cuts through to the bone, and the peace which that brings.
