artist's bio
Ramona Russu is a Romanian artist based in the South of France.
After graduating from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels she spent several years travelling and creating around the world.
In 2014 she settled down on the beautiful island of Corsica where she continues to cultivate her unique style by creating remarkable portraits always in a graphic aesthetic and with a hint of surrealism.
Since the beginnings of her artistic career, Ramona developed a very personal style which combines her admiration for the female silhouette with her passion for a graphic and monochrome aesthetic.
With her subtle, sensitive yet strong female portraits, Ramona Russu manages to captivate the viewer by telling a visual story about ‘ The girl with black hair ‘ in a surreal, graphic and poetic style.
Ramona’s pieces are a perfect balance between pure decoration and genuine emotion.
In her most recent works, she develops an extensive use of gold leafing that adds luminosity and life to her subjects making them interact with the space and audience in a different, more profound manner and creating a silent dialogue between the surroundings, the art and the audience.
Listed in various private collections across Europe, America and Asia, Ramona Russu’s works have been exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions and international art fairs such as The Other Art Fair London, ChAco Art Fair Santiago, The Annual Fall Gallery Walk Chicago and Art3F Marseille. In 2020 she was invited to exhibit during the next edition of the Florence Biennale of Contemporary Art held at Fortezza da Basso.
Her art has also been featured in Forbes, Art & Décoration, Harper's Bazaar and Saatchi Fall Catalog. In 2019 Ramona's works have been selected to represent The Annual Fall Gallery Walk in Chicago on FOX News.
