about the artist

sarah is a local hackney based artist inspired by her walks around the hackney and walthamstow marshes. her paintings document paths taken and colours emerging over the changing seasons. balancing fine painterly detail with loose gestural mark-making, sarah enjoys exaggerating her colour palette and infusing her source images with vibrancy and energy - bringing a fresh approach to contemporary landscape painting.

the story

‘my recent work is an appreciation of the green spaces and nature reserves of the lea valley and the impact of nature on wellbeing. this painting is inspired by an early morning scene in january, in the filter beds off lea bridge road. i tried to capture the intensity of colour with paint which my camera couldn’t manage – especially the cold bright blue sky reflecting in the rain water.’ - sarah

this is an original acrylic painting on linen, framed with a floating natural wood tray frame. the artwork measures 50 x 50 cm.
