the artist

sarah is a contemporary painter based in brighton. preferring to feel a part of the landscape, sarah paints, draws and sketches ‘en plein air’. she loves to be immersed in nature and connected to the environment around her. nurturing her relationship with a space by revisiting in all seasons, she is then able to experience and observe the changes in light, colour and sound. her evocative, dreamlike paintings capture not just a sense of light and place, but her own experience within the space. they have an underlying emotional intensity and sense of nostalgia, as if these are places and skies which are familiar to us all.

the story

‘i am very lucky to live near the beach and i often rush down there with my sketch book, just as the light is fading. this helps to catch the feeling which I then work up in the form of small oil sketches, before undertaking larger paintings back in the studio. i tend to paint them quite slowly and sit with them for weeks often glazing with transparent hues to hit the balance of luminosity.’ - sarah

this is an original oil painting measuring 24.5 x 24.5 cm. the artwork is sold mounted and framed in a white wood frame, measuring 33.5 x 33.5 cm. it is sold ready to hang with fixtures included.
