clare halifax "petite pano princess of wales conservatory, kew gardens"
limited edition of 40 screen print
about the artist
in clare’s world all is harmonious and quiet. bird’s fly in the sky, colours sit gently alongside each other, delicate patterns adorn surfaces, backgrounds, rivers and skies. an east london-based artist and traditional printmaker, her intricate and illustrative artworks demonstrate an incredibly skilful use of line, as well as her love for representation and narrative. with a background in textile design, she carefully balances design, pattern and colour in each work to create a contemporary work which connects to a particular place, city, building or vignette of the natural world.
the story
for fans of clare’s delicate botanical work, it is no surprise that she transports us to kew gardens for this celebration of her happy place. in particular, clare depicts one of the newer buildings built in 1985 – a stark contrast to its victorian counterparts. sharp geometric lines contrast with the flowering foliage and abundant greenery across its 10 climate zones. clare returns again and again to this space and it never fails to offer her a sense of wonder and joy.
