about the artist

born in 1981, rosie is a contemporary artist working almost exclusively on representing the female form. her figures draw reference from archetype’s old and new, from artemis to the modern day super model, each solitary figure, becomes an allegory of her own fantasy.

her screen-prints, using unusual materials including charcoal powder, ash and saw dust, create unique, hand-finished prints with subtle texture.

her recent cyanotype works enable her to montage objects, with real size photographic negatives. using the uv light from the sun to expose objects directly on the surface, she explores the interplay between painting, collage and photography. emerson describes ‘the technique itself has an element of magic about it, it also a wonderful discovery to be able to combine painting, collage and photography in this way’’

about the artwork

this is a limited edition of 15 photopolymer etching with watercolour and bronze powder on Southbank 300 gsm printmaking paper. the image size is 31.5 x 21 cm and paper size is 56 x 37 cm. this artwork is unframed but can be framed on request, please contact elina@artsnug.com for framing queries.

rosie has constructed maquette’s theatre set made using beads, shells, buttons, natural materials, images, all repurposed from her collections, as a self professed magpie and hoarder. these sets are photographed in the artists studio then digitally combined with the model and horse, also photographed by the artist. the photopolymer etching process unifies the image leaving the boundaries blurred between the real and the fabricated, the characters cast adrift in these constructed spaces.

rosie produces her prints in small editions, the etching plate is 'inked up' individually before going through the press. once printed and left to dry, each edition has been hand painted with water colour and bronze powder making these unique and intriguing prints both collectable and a real talking point.
