the story

“rippling peat" is a tribute to the landscape of marion’s childhood. the peat bog near her home, known simply as "the moss," was an area her great grandparents used to gather their winter fuel from. teeming with wildlife, it is covered in vibrant green mosses and an abundance of heather, with a fringe of pine trees, rhododendron and silver birch.

the earthy tones blend harmoniously together, woven with her distinctive use of texture. this ‘happy place’ is somewhere marion likes to go daily, a place where she can connect to nature but also a remembrance of her history and place in this world.

“rippling peat” is an original mixed media painting on board, painted using acrylic, oil and texturising materials. the artwork measures 30.5 x 30.5 cm and is sold in a simple white tray frame.
