about the artist

gavin dobson is a london based illustrator. initially having trained in fine art at middlesex university, his artwork is inspired by a huge love of graphic novels and american comic books, in particular of the 1980s.

story

in these original watercolour paintings, filled with immediacy and vibrancy, gavin celebrates perfect bodies in paradise conditions. pools, ponds and lidos, are places to work out, relax and gaze at the surrounding beauty whilst floating weightlessly in a sea of blue. they’re also meeting places. speedos, shorts, six-packs. a glance of a muscular back - wet - as it strains to heave its owner out of the pool. gavin's portrayals of these aquatic havens are a celebration of beauty and leisure, inviting viewers to dive right in. 

about the artwork

this is an original oil and gouache painting on paper. the artwork measures 29.7 x 21 cm and has been mounted and framed in a slim aluminium frame with an oak veneer. the framed size is 31 x 41 cm.
