the artist
anna is a local walthamstow-based artist who focuses on printmaking and runs inky cuttlefish studios in gnome house. born in south africa, anna studied fine art at the university of natal and then later graduated from the university of the arts london with a masters in printmaking. her delicate and distinctive lino prints have become well known across e17 and have reached various corners of the globe. she has passionate ties to africa which reveal themselves in her practice, as well as fascinations with folklore, mythology, legends and the afterlife.
the story
imagining things that are lost and found, anna explored the idea of a secret garden, and a child's delight of discovery. this wood engraving captures an enchanted moment in front of walthamstow town hall - children playing and splashing in a fountain after dark. she captures a feeling of excitement and renewal – as this area has recently been refreshed with the removal of the old fountain and a new communal area.
the artwork
this artwork is a limited edition of 50 wood engraving. the image measures 15 x 10 cm and it is printed on archival paper measuring 30 x 40 cm. it is signed, numbered and embossed by the artist. due to the nature of wood engraving, each edition has minor differences - making each edition unique. this artwork is available unframed or framed floated and raised in a bespoke white wood frame, measuring 36 x 45.4 cm.
