the artist
having grown up in the south west of england, the inspiration for clare’s work comes from the buildings that surrounded her and nostalgic reminisces of places and items of interest. within each image, design, pattern and colour plays an important part, adding depth and decoration to build an aesthetically pleasing overall effect.
the story
this is the first artwork clare has created inspired by walthamstow. in this screen print clare captures some of the magic of this 1930s grade III listed building in walthamstow. she uses intricate pattern work to reflect the art deco history of this building and includes the william morris quote which adorns the building facade. this is a particularly resonant for clare, someone hugely inspired by william morris throughout her creative journey - one which started in textile design and now continues in printmaking.
the artwork
this is a limited edition of 75 signed and numbered eight colour screen print of waltham assembly hall in walthamstow. the paper size is 57 x 37 cm. the artwork is available unframed or framed bespoke by floating and raising the print within a contemporary white wood grain box frame. the framed size measures 67 x 47 cm.
