Matt's work represents mis-remembered memories of places he's visited. Instead of the physical representation of the place, he tries to capture the emotions of being there. Though abstract in their nature, his memoryscapes have the power to trigger memories of our own journeys near and far.

‘The Long Way Home’ captures the essence of a journey - one that may be winding, uncertain, or extended, but ultimately filled with moments of discovery and quiet reflection. This monotype reflects on the experience of taking the less traveled path, of choosing to explore the in-between spaces, and of savouring the gradual return to a place of belonging.

This is an original abstract monotype, sold framed set back in a box frame with low-reflect glass. Artwork framed measures 65 × 86 cm.
