the artist
a bristol based printmaker, anna harley’s eye-catching landscape prints have a stark freshness and graphic beauty. her influences are varied and reflect her nomadic childhood, an arts and craft background and connections to places like scandinavia and japan. each print-making journey is one of discovery, and she enjoys letting the process lead the artwork – embracing happy accidents and unexpected results along the way.
the story
in this artwork anna revisits a spot she has been making the journey to since she was 11 years old. regularly visiting the area on holiday, she has walked this coastal route to bedruthen steps countless times.
legend has it that a giant called bedruthan created the rock stacks to use as stepping stones to create a shortcut across the bay. for anna this space has the power and magic of this legend. with rocks, a miniature island and a mermaid lagoon, anna loves to swim in the crystal-clear waters of this distinctive paradise.
