The Artist

Eva Ray Studio is the creative space of Laura Brown – a fine artist based in Whitstable who channels her love of pattern and colour into dream-like, gentle and distinctive pastel artworks. Highly inspired by her time living and studying jewellery design in India, Laura’s work sings of the aesthetics of spaces like Jaipur and Kerala, whilst also drawing on her coastal surroundings in Kent.  

the story

As Laura cruised through the Camber area one sweltering summer day, she suddenly felt compelled to stop and admire the breathtaking scenery before her. The shimmering water glistened in the sun, framed by fields of golden ochre that seemed to stretch on forever.

 In her "Coastal Roads" mini-series, Laura beautifully captures the essence of this moment using a paired back colour scheme. Each painting evokes a sense of calm and introspection, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the beauty of the coastal scenery.
