The Artist

Eva Ray Studio is the creative space of Laura Brown – a fine artist based in Whitstable who channels her love of pattern and colour into dream-like, gentle and distinctive pastel artworks. Highly inspired by her time living and studying jewellery design in India, Laura’s work sings of the aesthetics of spaces like Jaipur and Kerala, whilst also drawing on her coastal surroundings in Kent.

the story

Laura was inspired to paint "Orchard Gardens" after her trip to Mount Ephraim Gardens in Kent. Amidst the array of attractions at the gardens, including the topiary garden, rock and water garden, arboretum, and rose garden, it was the majestic beech trees that truly captivated Laura and ignited her imagination.

In her painting, Laura skilfully portrays the rich golden hues and intricate patterns of the beech trees that dominate the landscape. Her attention to detail truly brings out the tranquillity and charm of the gardens, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the same peaceful atmosphere that Laura experienced during her visit.
