The Artist
Eva Ray Studio is the creative space of Laura Brown – a fine artist based in Whitstable who channels her love of pattern and colour into dream-like, gentle and distinctive pastel artworks. Highly inspired by her time living and studying jewellery design in India, Laura’s work sings of the aesthetics of spaces like Jaipur and Kerala, whilst also drawing on her coastal surroundings in Kent.
the story
“Ephraim Gardens No. 4” draws inspiration from the artist's visit to Mount Ephraim gardens, nestled in the picturesque Kent countryside. It beautifully captures the charm of these Edwardian Gardens – filled with vibrant colours, beautiful rose beds and lush meadow grasses. Eva Ray's use of warm hues of rose, terracotta, and olive pastels capture the essence of radiant summer days spent exploring this botanical paradise.
