johanna wilbraham "mother's ruin" framed
limited edition of 50 print
the artist
johanna is a walthamstow based artist who usually explores contemporary portraiture and the female gaze. her large scale original works are created by pouring layers of diluted oil paint on a flat canvas in a series of translucent and fluid layers, rarely using a paintbrush. In this way the process is spontaneous and unpredictable - holding tension between the controlled and the uncontrolled, representation and abstraction.
the story
tumbling across this walthamstow gem is a real treat for the eyes. sitting beautifully amidst a re-developed industrial area, this painterly façade is a quick attention-stealer and delicious breath of fresh air. let your eyes wander through the intertwining branches of the blossom tree which adorns this gin bar, distillery and local treasure. this artwork is a love letter to xenz’s incredible street art and a reminder of nature’s generous contributions to our life – for all the gin lovers out there!
