the artist

anna’s minimalist mark-making is like poetry – each brushstroke and splash of paint carefully considered and deliberate – laden with meaning and purpose. a London-based artist, she most often works with water-based medias on paper, raw canvas and wood – the organic properties of these materials shining through. transformation and japanese aesthetics are key areas of focus, with influences from the zen philosophy ‘ma’ and shibumi principles.

the story

this series began after anna spent a week on the french island of Île de ré. most evenings were spent viewing the sunset on the beach ‘le bois plage’, where anna left wanting to harness the stunning colours and sense of light and convey the tranquillity of those moments, through the minimal use of marks and gestures.

This is an original mixed media painting in acrylic, oil pastel and graphite on raw canvas and is sold tray framed in a pine tray frame measuring 90 x 60 cm.
