Working in her studio in London, Rita uses paint to create works inspired by her surroundings and her emotions.

While creating abstract images that vary from large to intimate scale, she allows for the creative mark-making process to guide her while creating large and gestural images and layers of colour, which are then combined with small and intimate, selective abstract imagery.

She works on the notion of accumulation and disappearance, of surface, depth and fragmentation, while exploring the act of making and unmaking, of construction and deconstruction, addition and subtraction and this notion of painting as a mark that gets left behind, acting as an act of remembrance.
