the artist

emma is interested in the places and moments where we can find calmness and space as a balance to our busy urban lives. growing up in the countryside but based in london for the last 25 years, she is always chasing space. living in such a dense city, emma finds herself drawn to creating work that has an open vista and a clear horizon. continually inspired by nature and landscape, emma is a natural compositor and uses drawing, photography, painting and printing within her craft of each unique artwork.

the story

when you are at hollow ponds, nestled into the wilderness of that landscape, you don’t imagine the sky is so close by. the space has an atmosphere which wraps around you – heavy with bird life, trees, flowers and shrubbery. as a spot beloved by locals, there are so many stories told and revealed in these woodlands. emma used a drone to get some aerial shots over the treetops – taking us high above the ponds, almost soaring like a bird. from this vantage point we see the city skyline as the sky flashes with pink. emma sees this piece like a page from a storybook – encompassing all the stories of the adventurers and travellers on the ground.

about the artwork

this artwork is a multi-layered screen print finished with a layer of unique hand-painting. the artwork measures 84 x 54 cm. it is available to purchase unframed or framed in a slim dark grey wood frame measuring 96 x 66 cm. please note that due to the artist’s process, each edition is unique.
