limited edition of 17 photography print
the artist
john gough is a uk based photographer, who is interested in moving away from sharp digital photography, instead using experimental techniques to try to capture the world that we see and feel, be it nature, urban landscape or people.
the story
telling the story of a lost and found sign – ‘warner ghost’ features the ethereal presence of a ‘ghost sign’ on the corner of hoe street and ruby road. this dates back to the 1920s, to a shop previously titled ‘the super grocers of walthamstow’ – likely owned by the famous walthamstow warner family. the sign was ‘lost’ as it was later covered with a billboard, and then later ‘found’ when it was uncovered in 2020. this image also features contemporary passengers of hoe street, highlighting the transient nature of things and the rich history of this area.
